My bicycle rolls through the air freshened by the morning dew. It's about 06.47. The sun shines against my face. I pedal into the courtyard of our office building in Aviapolis, Vantaa. I lock the bike. I step inside. I take the stairs instead of the lift. I climb up to our office on the 4th floor. This is the start of an average workday for the 24 Center's energetic on-call operator.
I grab a cup of steaming coffee from our office lounge and head to the office to start my morning wake-up call. The phone slowly starts ringing and the work itself begins. Helping people. That's what we at 24 Center are really doing. Every customer who calls me gets the service they need after about three minutes of calling. From one number.
My job also involves responding to customers' electronic requests for quotations. It's a great feeling every time a customer thanks me for a quick response. At 24 Center, we usually respond to quotation requests within 1 minute.
I sit in our comfortable office and sip my coffee. In between calls, there's also time to relax, for example, by curling up in a burlap chair. That way you're better prepared to solve the next client's problem. My colleague takes half the calls of the day, which helps to reduce the workload on the individual employee and also speeds up our response time to the customer in a busy situation. I go out for lunch in peace and quiet while a colleague is on call.
After lunch, the calls usually come at a relatively leisurely pace and the rest of the day goes by quickly. At 3pm I thank my work colleagues for the day and hop on my highway sled for some leisure time. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a nice day at work.
