What work is eligible for the household allowance?
You can claim a household allowance for maintenance and renovation work in your home or leisure home. These include renovations to your kitchen, bathroom, other rooms or the sauna in a detached house. Electrical, plumbing and cabling work in a private house is also covered by the household allowance, as is, for example, painting an outbuilding or installing a security lock. For more information, see the tax office's website, which lists the different types of work depending on whether they are covered by the deduction or not: household allowance
What is the maximum amount of the household allowance?
The maximum household allowance in 2025 will be €3,500 per person. The deduction only applies to the labour portion of the bill, not to travel expenses or materials, for example. In 2025, the deductible share of the cost of the work will be 60%.
You will get the full deduction of €3,500 if the work on the invoice amounts to at least €5,833. This is because 60% of the amount corresponds to the maximum amount.
If your spouse is also entitled to a deduction, you can get a total household allowance of €7,000, in which case the work portion of the bill must be at least €11,666.
The household allowance has a deductible of €100 per person.
Does insurance cover the costs of the job?
Typical damages covered by home insurance include water damage caused by the breakage of pipes or connected appliances, fire, smoke and soot damage. The amount of compensation for water damage is affected by the age of the broken appliance or pipework.
What if I'm not sure if 24 Center has the service I need?

Why is the toilet flushing?
Toilet seat bloat is a common drainage problem caused by changes in the air pressure in the pipework. This can be caused by a partial blockage, a problem with the ventilation pipe or a main drainage problem. Most blockages are correctable, but it is important to recognise when they are a serious problem. This article will help you understand the causes of a blockage, recognise the warning signs and give you practical tips for both DIY repairs and situations where professional help is needed.

Can you open the drain yourself?
You can open the drain yourself in many common blockage situations, such as superficial blockages caused by hair or soap residue. Simple tools such as a rubber vacuum cleaner, a drain pump or natural methods are often sufficient for the most common household drainage problems. However, deeper blockages, main sewer problems or repeated blockages require professional help. Learn when you can safely unblock a drain yourself, what tools and methods to use, what the most common mistakes are and how to prevent future blockages.

What is used to unblock a blocked toilet?
A blocked toilet is a stressful situation, but one that can usually be solved by yourself. You can usually unblock it with a spatula, hot water and dishwashing liquid or baking soda and vinegar. Learn how to recognise the signs of a blockage, such as slow-settling water and gurgling noises, and understand the most common causes, such as excessive toilet paper and toiletries. The guide goes through safe DIY methods and tells you when to call a professional for more serious plumbing problems.
