Vacuuming crawlspace demolition from a burning building with a high-powered vacuum truck

A typical Monday evening. What else. A Monday evening at 24 Center got a little bit of a buzz at 18.32. The customer service centre received a call from the on-call service of the Pirkanmaa Rescue Department's Situation and Management Centre. The customer service agent immediately sensed that there was a situation at hand.

The rescue service needed a high-powered hoist for a building fire. The fire was in a frontline house, from which they urgently needed to come and suck out the demolition debris from the intermediate floor. The building was still full of cops," the rescue service's dispatcher was able to tell them. For this reason, the demolition debris had to be sucked out immediately to prevent it from catching fire.

The rescue service was concerned about whether the car could get there fast enough. 24 Center's customer service promised a car within an hour. The details of the job were recorded and the 24 Center customer service representative immediately began searching for the perpetrator. A high-powered truck was dispatched 45 minutes after the first call to the emergency services.

The show was a success and even the tired firefighters were able to leave the scene before dark. The Rescue Department was very satisfied with the service provided by 24 Center and the driver of the high-powered truck received special thanks for a job well done.

24 Center's invoice to the Rescue Department was:

Labour contribution: 1316,00e
Specially treated waste 1,38t: 308,02e
Total: 1624,02e

This particular case is just the tip of the iceberg of all the high-profile cases handled by 24 Center. In addition to urgent jobs, we also perform non-urgent high-power pick-ups with an ironclad routine every day all over Finland, from the capital Helsinki to Utsjoki. At any time of the day.

Can the drain withstand boiling water?

Modern drains can usually withstand boiling water well, and the occasional spill of hot water will not cause immediate damage. Plastic PVC pipes can withstand temperatures of around 60-80°C, and boiling water temperatures drop below 50°C within seconds of being poured down the drain. The safest method is to run cold water at the same time and pour it slowly in small batches. In older properties, be more careful and contact a professional if you notice leaks, unusual noises or slow draining.

Why do I hear pulsations from the drain?

Pulsating from the drain is a sign of air pressure problems in the drainage system. When water flows into a drain, it needs air to replace it in order to function properly. Pulsation is most often caused by a blockage in the vent pipe, a partial blockage in the drain or design flaws. While occasional pulsation is not always a serious problem, persistent noise requires action. Learn how to identify the cause of the pulsation, assess the severity of the problem and find the right remedies before the situation worsens and causes more damage.
